Leatherman's Ridge

Leatherman's Ridge, Dwight Lane, Bedford Hills. 33 acres of rugged woods on a ridge above the Bedford Hills hamlet. The property contains a cave used 100 years ago by the famous Leatherman.

Directions

Take Metro North Harlem Line to Bedford Hills. From train station, walk or bike to Route 172 north, then left on Cherry Street and left again on Dwight Lane to the entrance to the preserve. About an hour. Bicycles are allowed on trains during week ends and non-rush hour weekdays. Permits are available at Window 27 @ Grand Central.

Propect Park Ravine

Tom Burke Preserve. West Patent Road and McClain Street, Bedford Hills. 7.5 acres of meadow and wetlands. Excellent for botanizing and birdwatching.
