Land Program Assistant at the Westchester Land Trust
Westchester Land Trust, a growing land preservation organization based in Bedford Hills, NY, seeks to hire a part time Land Program Assistant to assist with new land preservation projects, documenting conservation values, constructing GIS maps and managing GIS files. Position requires excellent computer skills and extensive experience with ArcGIS, Microsoft Office applications, and excellent writing and report drafting skills.
Experience in an environmental discipline and knowledge of natural resource functions is desirable along with the ability to hike outdoors in rough conditions and work independently

GreenApple Corps Crew Leader
The GreenApple Corps is seeking dynamic individuals to supervise field crews of public service members. The GreenApple Corps, a citywide public service initiative, works in three program areas: Environmental Education, Ecological Restoration and Urban Forestry. The GreenApple Corps weaves these three strands together into a cohesive public service program to preserve and restore natural areas, increase the street tree population citywide and turn school kids into environmentally aware citizens and stewards.
Major resondiblities include:
- Supervise and motivate team members and volunteers.
- Plan and supervise work assignments to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner and according to agency and program specifications.
- Coordinate natural areas restoration projects with team members, volunteers and students.
- Coordinate environmental education programs with team members, school administrators and students.
- Coordinate forest restoration projects with team members, volunteers and students.
- Collect and coordinate baseline forestry data.
- Communicate clearly, effectively and professionally with team members, project collaborators, and program staff.
- Drive vehicles and operate motorized equipment in a safe manner to perform assigned duties.
- Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles and ensure they operate in proper working condition.
- Maintain accurate personnel records, track assignments and materials and order necessary supplies.
- Work with various Parks divisions throughout New York City in a wide variety of settings, including but not limited to salt marshes, forests, meadows, and trails.

Outreach Coordinator—CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities
The City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for the position of Outreach Coordinator of the CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities at Hunter College. This Institute (founded in 2006) focuses on changing the way in which residents and institutions of the New York Metropolitan Region understand, interact with, and manage their physical environment so as to make the City a laboratory and model for 21st century environmental sustainability.
The Outreach Coordinator will interact with diverse constituencies, including media, policymakers, researchers, educators, students, and the public, in order to further the goals of CISC.
The OC will promote CISC research by:
- disseminating educational modules for inclusion in CUNY courses, and possibly secondary schools and other universities
- developing and managing the Institute website and blog
- developing and fostering connections with media outlets, writing press releases
- engaging policymakers
- organizing forums/workshops that include policymakers, researchers, educators, students and media
- assisting in fundraising
The OC will write/edit communiqués and facilitate interaction between constituencies, plan events and meetings, and keep abreast of ongoing research in CISC Core Projects. The OC will also contribute to the continuing articulation of the strategic vision for CISC.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a BA or MA in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or a related field; work experience, coursework, or a BA/MA in geography, urban planning, environmental science, or any field broadly related to the mission of CISC; previous employment with environmental or planning agencies or NGOs. The candidate must have excellent written and oral communications skills. Computer skills including email and office productivity software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, and Basic HTML are essential. Ability to manage and update the CISC website and blog is critical. Experience with event planning and meeting facilitation is a plus. Overall interest and/or experience in the urban environment and sustainability issues is important.

Natural Resources Internship
This is an opportunity to join a diverse and dedicated crew, managing 250 acres of woodlands and 62 acres of water bodies located within historic Prospect Park. The intern will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of projects including woodland restoration, lake/pond monitoring, vegetation monitoring, and a possibility for independent study.

A successful candidate should have an interest in ecology, aptitude for fieldwork, enjoy learning new concepts, and be prepared for physical work. Candidate should be a college or graduate student enrolled in a relevant field of study (i.e. ecology, natural resource management, biological sciences, forestry, etc.).
Position normally runs June through August, can start mid-May, approximately 9 weeks, 35 hours/week, $9.75/hr.
