About the Nature Network

Nature Network is a collaboration among organizations dedicated to nurturing a healthy natural environment in the NJ-NY-CT Metropolitan region. Nature Network inspires ecological citizenship by creating and disseminating knowledge and fostering dialogue on critical environmental issues. It is a framework within which member organizations can work together on research, education, public information and scientific assistance for community organizations and others working on public policies.

Election of Officers

On January 16, 2008, William Solecki was elected President-Elect, to become President on July 16, 2008. Dr. Solecki is Director of the Institute for Sustainable Cities and Professor of Geography, Hunter College. With Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig, he wrote the definitive study of the impact of climate change on the NY-NJ-CT Metropolitan Region.

Donald A. McCrimmon, Vice President for Academic Affairs & Dean of Faculty, Cazenovia College, will continue as President until July 16 and then will remain on the Executive Committee as Past President.

David Levine, GreenHarvest Technologies, was re-elected Treasurer.

William Shore was re-elected Executive Secretary.

Steven Clemants, Vice President for Science, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, remains on the Executive Committee as Past President.

Origins of Nature Network

Nature Network was launched at an organizing meeting April 1, 2005. A Constitution and founding Directors were approved, then a Conference launched the Network publicly, April 13-14, 2005 at The Graduate Center, City University of New York: "The State of Nature in the Tri-State Region."
